Holly Bags

The lost of a sister

“To the outside world we all grow old.  But not to brothers and sisters.

We know each other as we always were.  We know each other’s hearts.

We share private family jokes.  We remember family feuds and secrets, family griefs and joys.

We live outside the touch of time.”

—Clara Ortega

I lost my sister Holly February 13th, 2018 it was discovered over time that she had passed away from un-diagnosed Type 1 Diabetes. She had gone into DKA (diabetic ketoacidosis)

Holly was a free spirit, a hippie, a fun loving spiritual soul who loved art and loved to sew.

Holly in her element sewing

Sewing was one of the few things that we had in common the older we got. We both had the same sewing machine. My way of healing,  honoring, remembering and staying connected to my sister is by continuing to sew in her name. In my “Holly Bags” I have used a piece of her clothing, a piece of her fabric or her thread  so that she will be in everything that I make.

I hope that you will enjoy this special piece of handmade love. Take care and continue to tell her story so that her spirit may live on!
